KSSIDC seeks 50 acres of land to set up new Industrial Estate

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) Managing Director Mahesh B. Shirur has said it was ready to establish another Industrial Estate in the district provided 50-acre land was available.

He was speaking at an awareness programme on ‘New Industrial Policy 2020-2025 and Investment Opportunities’ organised jointly by Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) and Mysuru District Industries Centre (MDIC) at a private hotel here yesterday.

Shirur said the applications have been received seeking establishing a new Industrial Estate in the district. The Corporation was ready to consider it provided 50 acres of land was made available to them. 

So far, 190 Industrial Estates have been established in various taluks and districts in the State. There are three Industrial Estates in Mysuru and no new estate had been created since 2005. “We are aware of industrialists facing problems due to COVID-19. Please bring it to our notice and we are ready to resolve it,” he added.

Industries and Commerce Department (MSME) Director R. Vinoth Priya said the new Industrial Policy has given more impetus on the encouragement to small and medium scale industries and revival of the economy. More opportunities are given for women entre-preneurs. The new policy also included development of market, continuous employment opportunity and productivity in small scale industries. 

A number of small scale and large scale industries had suffered loss due to lockdown and now they are on the path of recovery. The kind of assistance to be given to small, medium and large scale industries will be decided after consultation with stakeholders. Suggestions have come to impart skill development training to youths and then recruit them in industries, Vinoth Priya added.

Industries and Commerce Department Additional Director H.M. Srinivas said hitherto, industrialists were facing lot of problems to set up new units. To address problems, a page has been created in facebook where the industrialists could share their woes as well as give suggestions. The same will be addressed by the authorities concerned.
