Trade Unions to hold nationwide protest on Nov. 26

November 9, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Joint Committee of Trade Unions (JCTU), in association with The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions(CITU) and The All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) had organised a district-level Labour Conference at a private hotel in city on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, AITUC Mysuru unit General Secretary H.R. Seshadri urged all workers to come together and participate in the upcoming nationwide protest to be held on Nov. 26 in city and make it a grand success.

Strongly condemning the anti-labour policies of the Government, Seshadri said, “Thousands of poor labourers are suffering due to lockdown imposed due to COVID-19  pandemic, but the Government is yet come to their aid. We had suggested the Government to pay Rs. 7,500 per month to the families who are outside the tax bracket. None of our demands were met. Central Government had announced a twenty thousand crore relief package, but we are still unaware of the beneficiaries of this relief package.”

Speaking on the occasion, CITU District President Balaji said that the nationwide protest will be held on Nov. 26 for fulfilment of seven demands by the trade unions for the benefit of 85 percent of population.

Over 70 members from all over Mysuru district participated in the conference.

Former Mayor Purushotham, AITUC Convenor H.B. Ramakrishna, AITUC District Secretary Jayaram, AIUTUC District Secretary Chandrashekhar Meti and others were present at the conference.
