Geeta Gayana this evening; Procession of portrait, art troupes on June 4

Mysuru: Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti will be celebrated in city on June 4 under the joint aegis of the District Administration, Department of Kannada and Culture, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and Federations of Urs Community. The celebrations will begin with the garlanding of Nalwadi’s statue at K.R. Circle at 10 am.

At 4 pm, a procession of the portrait of Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar mounted on a silver chariot will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple to Kalamandira, accompanied by various art troupes, Police Band and Mounted Police.

On reaching Kalamandira at 5 pm, a stage programme will be held following which there will be staging of play ‘Prajaraja’ based on Sri Nalwadi’s perspectives.

4-day Geeta Gayana

As a prelude to the main event, a four-day Geeta Gayana programme and screening of documentaries on ‘Sri Nalwadi’ has been organised from June 1 to June 4 at Dufferin Clock Tower (Chikka Gadiyara) and Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at Palace North Gate between 5.30 pm and 9 pm. Amma Ramachandra and troupe, Nagesh Kandegala, Narayana, Mariswamy and troupe will entertain the audience.

Also, Geeta Gayana programme on ‘Sri Nalwadi’ will be taken to various places in the city through a vehicle that would travel across the city from June 1 to 4. The vehicle will stop at the following venues as per the schedule mentioned:

June 1 (5.30 pm to 6.30 pm): Centenary Clock Tower, Manasagangothri; 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm: Ganesh Bhandar Circle; Artistes – Narayana, Mariswamy and troupe.

June 2 (5.30 pm to 6.30 pm): Agrahara Circle; 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm: Ashokapuram Park; Artistes – Amma Ramachandra and troupe.

June 3 (5.30 pm to 6.30 pm): Javaregowda Park, Saraswathipuram; 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm: V.V. Puram Circle; Artistes – Nagesh Kandegala and troupe.

June 4 (4 pm to 5 pm): Procession; 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm: N.R. Mohalla Circle; Artistes – Narayana, Mariswamy and troupe.

Apart from this, Geeta Gayana programme will also be held in the morning at Varuna, Rajiv Nagar, Kesare, Hebbal, Alanahalli and other venues.
