First Mysuru City Kannada Sahitya Sammelana on Feb. 18

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat is organising ‘Mysuru City Kannada Sahitya Sammelana’ for the first time in city on Feb. 18. Noted writer Aryambha Pattabhi has been chosen as the President of the Sammelana, which will be held at Vignana Bhavana, Manasagangothri in city.

The Sammelana will begin with a grand procession along with folk troupes from Manasagangothri entrance gate (near Kuvempu Statue) on Feb. 18 at 9.30 am. Renowned Kannada actor Mukhyamantri Chandru will inaugurate the event at 10.30 am. University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar will preside. 

MLA G.T. Devegowda will inaugurate the cultural programme. MP Pratap Simha, MLAs G.T. Devegowda, S.A. Ramdas, L. Nagendra and Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah will be present. Later, historian Dr. N.S. Rangaraju will be delivering a special lecture on contribution of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

As part of the first session, retired Professor Dr. C. Naganna and Prasaranga Director Prof. Nilagiri M. Talawar will deliver lectures at 2 pm. Second session will begin at 3 pm. GSS founder Srihari and Maharani’s PU College lecturer Dr. C. Tejowati will deliver lectures at 3 pm. Kavi Goshti will be held at 4 pm. Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies Assistant Professor N.K. Lolakshi will preside.

At 5 pm, Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar will felicitate achievers from various fields including photo-journalist from Star of Mysore M.N. Lakshminarayana Yadav, senior journalist M.T. Yogesh Kumar and wildlife photographer S.R. Madhusudan. MLC A. H. Vishwanath will preside.

Valedictory function will be held at 6 pm. Aryambha Pattabhi will deliver Presidential Address. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna will preside. Police Training School Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti will deliver valedictory speech. Later, noted singer of Ede Thumbi Haadidenu-fame Ruthvik C. Raj and team will present musical event ‘Gaana – Savigaana’.
