Mysore/Mysuru: The Mega Lok Adalat held at 52 Courts in the district yesterday, saw resolution of 14,237 out of the 24,583 cases that came up yesterday.
The cases resolved included 184 pre-litigation cases.
Cases that found a solution included 490 bailable criminal cases, 199 IMV (Indian Motor Vehicles) Act cases, 243 civil, 931 Bank Cheque bounce cases, 147 cases pertaining to division of property and 1,983 property disputes. In all, the monetary worth of cases settled yesterday was recorded at Rs. 97.35 crore.
37 couples re-unite
Another noteworthy and heartening aspect of Saturday’s Mega Lok Adalat was that 37 estranged couples from city and district, who had sought divorce, re-united after counselling.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Ramachandra D. Huddar and Judge N.S. Patil were present.
Senior Civil Judge and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Member-Secretary Devaraj Bhuthe said that counselling was held at the three Family Courts in city, following which 29 couples who had applied for divorce, got reunited. Also, 8 couples reunited at the counselling held at T. Narasipur Court. The couples who re-united included an elderly couple, those who had applied for divorce over 5 years ago and also those who had sought divorce just two months after marriage, he said. All the re-united couples were presented bouquets and distributed sweets, Bhuthe added.
