Rs. 50 lakh to be handed over to District Administration
Mysore/Mysuru: The employees of the University of Mysore (UoM) have come forward to donate their one day salary for the treatment of COVID-19 victims.
At an online meeting held under the Presidentship of UoM Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri here, both teaching and non-teaching staff gave their consent for the proposal of donating a day’s salary to the District Administration towards the medical services provided for the pandemic victims.
Last year too the University staff had donated their one day salary towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Now with the second wave creating havoc, the VC proposed about the donation at the virtual meeting which was attended by the Chairmen and Directors of all the Departments of Post-Graduation and Degree College Principals.
There are a total of 1,400 employees in the University including officers, teaching and non-teaching staff.
Altogether, one day salary of the UoM staff amounts to Rs. 50 lakh, which will be donated towards District Administration Disaster Management Fund in the presence of the District Minister, informed the VC.
Online classes from May 25
The virtual meeting also decided to commence online classes for the second semester PG courses from May 25, said Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa.
First semester exams have been postponed. However, it has been directed to commence second semester classes online from May 25, he said adding that similarly, it has been instructed to all 230 Colleges affiliated to the University to commence online classes for second, fourth and sixth semesters of the Degree courses too.
