Melukote MLA demands CID probe

June 2, 2021

Mandya: Melukote JD(S) MLA C.S. Puttaraju has demanded a CID probe into the alleged milk adulteration scam that was recently unearthed in ManMUL (Mandya Milk Union Limited).

Speaking to press persons here yesterday, Puttaraju, who is also a former Minister, said that the scam may have happened in all other Milk Unions across the State and as such the Government should take serious note of it and order a  CID probe.

Commending the ManMUL administration for unearthing the scam, he said that dragging the name of ManMUL President and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) in the scam was not correct.

Contending that Kumaraswamy was in no way connected with the scam, Puttaraju said that HDK cannot be blamed just because one of his relatives is suspected to be involved in the scam.

Pointing out that Congress Government was in power when the alleged kingpin Ranjankumar, the owner of milk tankers, was awarded the tender for milk transportation, the MLA said that, as such, the point of suspicion must be targeted at the Congress, which had control of ManMUL then                                                                     and not JD(S).

Arguing that there should be no politics on such a serious issue of milk adulteration, where milk was allegedly mixed with equal quantity of water, he reiterated his demand for a CID probe into the scam in order to find out the truth. He further said that he was ready to talk with Opposition Leader Siddharmaiah too on the issue.

Referring to COVID situation in Mandya district, Puttaraju asserted that enforcement of strict lockdown had resulted in the decline of COVID caseload in the district. He argued that further extension of the lockdown will help in bringing the deadly pandemic under control.

Maintaining that it has been planned to set up Oxygen Plants in all taluks of the district, he said that the Plants will be set up at Pandavapura and K.R. Pet in the first stage. Film producer Vijay Kiragandur is ready to fund the Oxygen Plants, he added.

Continuing, Puttaraju said that he has facilitated to-and-fro ambulance service from Pandavapura to Mysuru and Mandya and appealed COVID affected families to make use of this service.
