Mysore/Mysuru: Pouring out woes, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag claimed that Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri had sent Police to break open the MCC storeroom to take into possession medical kits donated for Covid patients.

Addressing a news conference here yesterday, she said Raghulal Company had donated 3,000 medical kits to be distributed among home isolated patients through Ward Task Force Committees. They were kept in the Corporation storeroom. Suddenly, the DC had sent the Police to the Corporation to break open the lock of storeroom to take away the medical kit questioning collection of donation. 

The DC had contended that the permission of District Administration must be obtained before accepting donation and MCC cannot accept it. By saying this, the DC has not only insulted the MCC but also downed the morale of MCC employees.

Target

Shilpa claimed that she became the personal target of the DC after the media highlighted the good works done as part of Covid management. The second division level officers of MCC were invited for the meetings daily and insulted. “I was fed up with her attitude. But I kept quiet as her any action must not inconvenience the city and create fresh problems. Never in my life I have suffered so much insult. Despite doing so many good things, Rohini seems to have waged a war against the MCC and trying to create impression that the Corporation is doing nothing. The DC took the credit for starting the concept of ‘Covid Mitra’ during a live interactive session with Prime Minister Modi recently. In fact, it was the concept evolved by the MCC. Some of the programmes launched by the MCC to check the spread of Covid had hogged limelight in national media. Unable to tolerate this, Rohini resorted to personal attacks on me.”

The Commissioner said the MCC was working on three stages to contain the contagion. Identifying and testing of primary and secondary contacts of Corona positive patients has been going on. For this purpose, a Telecare Centre has been established in which 31 local doctors and 41 doctors from United Kingdom were actively counselling patients. The MCC is blamed for any shortfalls in the functioning of District War Room, she alleged.

List of achievements

Releasing documents about the works done by MCC as part of Covid management, Shilpa said the MCC was maintaining 9 Covid Care Centres, arranged 525 beds at Mandakalli KSOU, 35 beds in Panchakarma Hi-Tech Hospital, 150 beds in Beedi Workers Hospital, 100 beds in Farooquia, 51 beds in Students Hostel, 57 beds in Boys Hostel, 80 beds in Post-Matric Boys Hostel, 60 beds in Government Naturopathy Hospital and 64 beds in Youth Hostel building. In total, 1,500 beds were being managed by the MCC. 

She said in the wake of shortage of doctors and nurses, both MCC and MUDA had appointed 31 doctors and 33 nurses for the management of Covid Mitra and CCCs. The salary of these medical staff was divided by both Government agencies. The MCC was using its own funds and CSR money for the management of five Covid Mitras and nine CCCs. The CSR fund collection was managed by Assistant Executive Engineer. In last 20 days, Rs. 12.3 crore has been collected but everything was taken away by the DC. The suspension notice has been served on AEE and the DC has issued instructions not to collect and utilise CSR funds. This DC’s order was illegal, Shilpa said.
