Don’t allow sycophants to chant ‘Next CM’ slogan in public: Sait

June 26, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Pointing out that having desire is not wrong, Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait has said that he too was an aspirant for the Chief Minister post.

Talking to reporters here yesterday, he said there was no wrong to aspire for top posts but it was not right to make followers say ‘Next CM’ time and again.

Once the party comes to power, every MLA will be eligible to become CM. However, immediate priority before them was to bring Congress back to power in the State.

“Congress is a disciplined party having its own principle and ideology. I, and my father, late Aziz Sait, have built party for several years and also enjoyed power. This happened not because of my strength but of party’s stature. I will always abide by my party diktat. With two years to go for the Assembly polls, it is not right for anyone to talk about next CM. None must get these kinds of statements from their supporters and it must be left to the party High Command to decide,” he said.

Sait opined issuing such statement will impact image of party as well as of those who wish to be called as ‘Next CM.’ Care must be taken to avoid such incidents in future. Party workers must be ready to bring back the party to power.

“Individual worship is not correct. The tradition of Congress has been to make KPCC President as the Chief Minister.  Of late, it has become difficult to face the election and to get majority under one man’s leadership. What we need is to face the election under collective leadership,” he added.
