Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to announce Pandemic Period Special Weightage for SSLC students coming from rural areas, Dalit and oppressed families, hilly regions and tribal belts and farmers under the banner of KRRS (Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha) and DSS (Dalit Sangharsha Samiti) staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here yesterday.
Pointing out that SSLC students from rural and remote areas were a disadvantaged lot during the COVID crisis when compared to their urban counterparts who had all the facilities for online learning, the protesters wanted the Government to announce Pandemic Period Special Weightage in results, a priority based admission system in higher classes both in Private and Government Educational Institutions, consideration of this weightage in Post-SSLC academic choices, student scholarships and other financial assistance and incorporation of this weightage in Government and private appointments in future, for students from these underprivileged sections of the society.
KRRS leaders Prasanna N. Gowda, Hoskote Basavaraj, Hosur Kumar and Marankaiah, DSS leaders Bettaiah Kote, Alagudu Shivakumar, Chunchanahalli Mallesh and others took part in the protest.
