Sir,
Dr. A.V. Narasimha Murthy has thrown much light on the sterling personality and yeoman contribution of Dewan Rangacharlu to Mysuru Sansthan (SOM dated June 18).
DVG, the doyen of Karnataka, has recorded the services of Rangacharlu in his book “Jnapaka Chitrashale”, which is a text book for I B.Com students of University of Mysore. Today Karnataka Government secured first rank in bribery by getting 77% marks, whereas the neighbouring Kerala stands last by getting 4% marks.
During the days when Ranga-charlu entered the Mysore Kingdom, bribery prevailed everywhere and the kingdom was a great debtor. It was due to his stringent action and reforms, the Mysore Sansthan became a bribe-free State.
It is a timely suggestion made by SOM that Rangacharlu statue is to be installed in front of the Rangacharlu Town Hall or any other suitable location. Of course in no circle or park Rangacharlu’s statue is installed as per my knowledge. Will the MCC, with an unprejudiced mind, take a timely decision on this matter?
