DC Dr. Bagadi Gautham calls upon Cops to engage in sports for physical and mental health
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham launched the Annual Sports Meet-2021 of Mysuru District Police by releasing balloons and pigeons at DAR Parade Grounds in Jyothinagar here this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the Police force for ably managing the crime detection, prevention and maintaining law and order even with additional work of implementation of COVID restrictions following the outbreak of the pandemic.
Stating that Police work is a stressful job, he advised them to make time for at least half an hour in the morning and in the evening for some physical activity/ sports if not anything at least a walk in the morning and evening would help them manage work stress and maintain physical and mental health.
On the occasion, Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Chethan administered oath to the participants. Reserve Police Inspector (RPI) Abhinandan held the sports torch. RPI Pradeep Kumar is the in-charge of the Sports Meet while Babu and Lakshmi of District Police force will compere the sports events.
Policemen are taking part in the Sports Meet in a total of six divisions — Mysuru Rural, DAR, Nanjangud, Hunsur, District Special Branch and Women Police.
The three-day Sports Meet features running race, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, fast walk, broad jump, high jump, kabaddi, volleyball, throwball, cricket ball throw, tennis ball cricket, musical chair, passing the ball, tug-of-war for men and women of various ranks, shooting (at Chamundi Shooting Range) and badminton for officers and rifle firing for men (at Byadarahalli Firing Range, Mandya).
Also, there will be gymkhana events for guests and invitees on the concluding day.
The valedictory of the three-day Sports Meet will be held on Dec. 30 at 4 pm at DAR Parade Grounds in Jyothinagar. Inspector General of Police (IGP-Southern Range) Pravin Madhukar Pawar will be the chief guest on the occasion.
