Mysore/Mysuru: Bhavya, a student of G.B. Saragur Government High School in H.D. Kote taluk of the district, has bagged the second place in 3-D Visual arts category at the National Kalotsava contest organised virtually by NCERT.
In the wake of COVID-19, the contest was held virtually from Jan.1 to 12 at Bengaluru’s DSERT, which was watched by judges of the event. The result was announced on Jan.18.
Bhavya, a 9th standard student of G.B. Saragur Government High School bagged the second place in 3-D Visual arts category while Srigowri, a II PU student of Bengaluru’s Vijaya Composite PU College bagged the third spot in Classical Music and Srushti Suresh, a 9th standard student of St. Joseph’s High school in Dharwad district secured the first place in Classical Music Instrument.
Bhavya, who had created a mask of Somana Kunitha folk dance, had bagged the first place at the State-level Kalotsava held last month. She had created the model by using bamboo, cotton fabric and paper under the guidance of art teacher K. Sangeetha.
Last year, Chandana, also a student of G.B. Saragur Government High School, who trained under the School’s arts teacher K. Sangeetha, had won a prize. Now Bhavya, has brought laurels to the School and Mysuru district by bagging the second place at the National event.
School Head Mistress Shobha has congratulated Bhavya for her achievement.
