Mysore/Mysuru: Rotary Ivory City Mysuru showcased their service projects in the areas of Education, Economic Development, Health-Care and Peace at the District Governor’s Official visit to their Club.
On this occasion, they honoured Rtn. Dr. M.V. Ravikumar from Rotary Bengaluru Koramangala who had recently received Service Above Self award from Rotary International, the highest honour given to any Rotarian by Rotary, for serving the cause of Blindness Prevention consistently over 20 years, supporting over 40,000 cataract surgeries and 150 children eye surgeries apart from donating equipment to eye hospitals, totally valued at over Rs.10 crore.
Rtn. Dr. Ravikumar had closely worked with Rotary Ivory City Mysuru and Usha Kiran Eye Hospital in developing the project — Ivory Tender Vision — to support screening of 5,000 Government School children and give the needy one free spectacles and operate the 40 children with cataract, squint or lazy eye.
Dr. Ravikumar had already operated 30 children and provided spectacles for 300 children so far apart from treating 40 adult patients with Diabetic/ Retinopathy, under this project two equipments worth nearly Rs. 22 lakh were donated by Rotary Ivory City Mysuru to Usha Kiran Eye Hospital.
District Governor Rtn. Ravindra Bhat visited the hospital along with President Rtn. Iftikar Ahamed, Past Asst. Governor Rtn. Sunil Baliga, Secretary Rtn.Latha Sachi and several District officials.
Dr. Ravishankar made a comprehensive presentation about the project and the Rotary officials interacted with the parents of the children who were operated under this project.
