Kollegal: Today the Government claims to be ‘transparent’ in all its dealings. Unfortunately, sometimes, it takes it too literally.

The result is embarrassment not only to it but also to those on whose behalf it takes decisions. Such a ‘transparent’ incident has occurred in Kollegal where the tailors have refused to stitch uniforms for girls, as the cloth supplied is too thin and transparent.

If the girls wear the clothes supplied then they will have to face very embarrassing moments and moreover, the clothes cannot be stitched as the cloth supplied is of very poor quality. The act of the Education Department for supplying such  a quality of cloth is being criticised by the parents and a few organisations.

“We wear clothes to protect our dignity. But the way the officials have so callously approved the cloth shows their commitment to the job. However, this is the first time that such poor quality material was distributed among the girl students in the district,” said farmer leader Nanjundaswamy. This incident has been brought to the notice of the Education Department in Bengaluru and the Commissioner personally has called for the samples of the cloth. He has asked DDPI Manjula to give a report on the issue.

“I will be sending a report regarding this issue to the Government,” Manjula told SOM.

Meanwhile, Kunthur Government Primary and High School SDMC Member Basavanna and the Head Master along with BEO Manjula visited Bengaluru with the sample material.
