Man kills teen in Malavalli, found dead in Kodagu

Somwarpet: A 29-year-old youth, who had allegedly murdered a girl student and had gone missing, was found dead in Kodagu. Police said that he have committed suicide. His decomposed body was found near Mallalli Water Falls on Mar. 1.

He has been identified as Shashikumar of Malavalli town.

On Mar. 1, a villager of Mallalli found a decomposed body and informed Somwarpet Police. The body was later identified as that  of Shashikumar.

During preliminary investigation, the Police stated that deceased Shashikumar, after murdering the girl he was in love by setting her on fire, had come to Mallalli in Kodagu where he ended his life.

Somwarpet Police, who found an address of a shop in the pocket of Shashikumar’s jerkin, informed it to Police Stations in Mandya district.

Details: Shashikumar, who had murdered the girl, identified as Yukthi (18) of Sodamuddanahalli, had gone absconding since Jan. 25.

His body was found in a decomposed state near Mallalli Water Falls on Mar. 1.

As Yukthi did not return home from college on Jan. 25, her parents had lodged a complaint with Kirugaval Police. On Feb. 27, a body of a girl, with severe burns, was found in the Nilgiri grove in Malavalli and Yukthi’s mother, identified the body as that of her daughter based on the clothes, earring, fingering and a water bottle found in her bag.

Yukthi’s parents, alleging that Shashikumar had forcibly taken their daughter and murdered her, had lodged a complaint.

Following protests, Kirugaval Police had also obtained CCTV footages of Shashikumar moving around on a bike in a suspicious manner and were trying to trace him.

Following information from Somwarpet Police, Kirugaval Police staff went to Somwarpet and were successful in cracking the case. Kirugaval Sub-Inspector Sheshadrikumar and staff are investigating.
