Milk prices to go up shortly?

March 14, 2022

Bengaluru: In what could be yet another blow to the common man who is already reeling under rising prices of essential commodities, the KMF (Karnataka Milk Federation)  is all set to hike milk prices by the end of this month.

The District Milk Unions had  sought the KMF a hike of Rs. 3 per litre of milk over a year ago. But the KMF then had turned it down as the third wave of COVID pandemic struck following which yet another lockdown was enforced.

But still, the District Milk Unions have been pressurising the KMF to hike milk prices by at least Rs. 3 per litre so as to overcome rising costs of operation.

In this backdrop, the KMF is likely to consider the demand for a price hike by Milk Unions and an announcement in this regard will be made by the this month end, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, the District Milk Unions are learnt to be preparing to take a delegation to the Chief Minister under the leadership of KMF Chairman Balachandra Jarkiholi to press the Government for giving sanction for milk price hike.
