Writers should break the walls between humans: Prof. Ramegowda

April 7, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior Scholar Prof. Ramegowda (RaGow) has said that writers should make sincere attempts to break the walls of differences existing between humans.

He was speaking after inaugurating the function jointly organised by Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies and Vachaspati Prakashana at B.M.Sri Auditorium in Manasagangothri on Tuesday to mark the release of four books — Kambarara Kadambari Loka, Sahitya Shikshana Samskruti, Sahitya Sourabha and Asmite — of Prof. C.P. Siddashrama.

“Even if you go to any corner of the world, you will find two different groups of people with different line of thinking. One group may say that writing and life are two different things and the other may argue that both are not different and in fact are one and the same. ‘Write how you live and live how you write’ is the philosophy of the second group.

Prof. Siddashrama belong to the second group and he had Kuvempu’s influence,” observed Prof. Ramegowda.

“Prof. Siddashrama is expanding his literary zone especially with critic works and writing is life for him. He is working in literature field for 45 years and has published 28 works. He has come up in life through strong will power and is one of the main writers of Kannada,” he added. Straight forwardness, pro-life attitude, uncompromising nature and commitment to fight injustice made him a rare writer, he opined.

Pointing out that Prof. Siddashrama’s poems mainly depict the rebellion in him and his writings highlight his special concern for the downtrodden, Prof. Ramegowda described Prof. Siddashrama as a Scholar, good critic, researcher and a historian of literature who has dedicated himself to the literary field by continuously working for over five decades.

Prof. Siddashrama has analysed the works of all the important works of prominent writers spread across various time frames, with the mindset of a critic in the backdrop of Social Consciousness and cultural awareness, he noted.
