Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Gokulam, has organised a Yakshagana titled “Srikrishna Leelamrutham” on Saturday (Apr. 30), at 6 pm at its premises by the artistes of Yakshagana Kala Kendra, Mysuru, in memory of late M. Govinda Rao and late D. Rama Bai, revered parents of Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, Managing Partner, Mangalore Ganesh Beedies.
Dr. Shenoy has instituted an Endowment to conduct the memorial programme every year on Apr. 30.
On the occasion, portraits of M. Govinda Rao and Rama Bai will be unveiled by Dr. Jagannath Shenoy, who will also be honoured by chief guest Dr. B.R. Pai, Managing Trustee, Vijaya Foundation, Mysuru. B.S. Sridhara Raj Urs, President of the Sabha presides.
Brief story: “Srikrishna Leelamrutham” is an interesting historical episode. The first scene starts with the entry of Srikrishna and Srivijaya.
Then Demons, Shakata and Dhenu enter to do mischief to spoil the serene atmosphere as ordered by Kamsa. Srikrishna intervenes and kills them.
Then the venomus Serpent Kalinga appears in River Yamuna to trouble the creatures living there.
Again, the serpent was killed by Srikrishna.
Finally, Balarama and Srikrishna raid the Mathura Kingdom and slain the wicked Kamsa.
