Pourakarmika Federation decides against supporting July 1 indefinite stir

June 28, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Even as Karnataka State Pourakarmika Mahasangha (City Corporations, CMCs, TMCs)  has planned to launch an indefinite stir from July 1 seeking fulfilment of its various demands, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Pourakarmika Federation has said that it would not support the agitation.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Federation President N. Raja said that the Federation is not supporting the stir as it is a politically motivated one.

Pointing out that Karnataka Safaikarmachari Commission Chairman M. Shivanna who held a meeting with officials concerned at the city’s Vikasa Soudha on June 23, has promised to take up Pourakarmika demands with the Chief Minister and make efforts for their fulfilment, Raja maintained that the Chief Minister on his part, too has responded positively.

He further said that the Safaikarmachari Commission, apart from recommending the Government to regularise the services of drainage workers, has also sought a pension of Rs. 5,000 to all retired Pourakarmikas.

Federation Hon. President C.M. Ramaiah, who also addressed the press meet, said that M. Shivanna has readily agreed to fufill their demands and as such there is no point in supporting the stir called by the Mahasangha.

Federation office-bearers Ramu, Manchaiah, Ramanjaneya  and Jayaram were present at the press meet.
