Mysore/Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, established in 1965 for human resource development, research, clinical services and public education in the field of communication disorders, will be celebrating its 57th Annual Day on Aug. 9.
The celebrations will be held at 10.30 am at AIISH Seminar Hall, Knowledge Park, Naimisham Campus.
Rajesh Bhushan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will be the distinguished guests at the inaugural function.
Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, will preside over the function. Addanda C. Cariappa, Director, Rangayana, Mysuru will be the chief guest.
Vasuki Vaibhav, Singer, Lyricist and Music Director will be the guest of honour for the cultural programme which will be held at 6.30 pm on Aug.9 at AIISH Seminar Hall.
On this occasion, clinical training module, tests and therapy resource series and manual on early childhood education will be released. Retired employees, employees who have completed 25 years of service, Ph.D awardees and meritorious students will be felicitated and AIISHian of the year award will be presented.
About AIISH: The institute has blossomed into one of the premier establishments across South Asia in the field of communication disorders. It has flourished leaps and bounds over the years on all the four fronts: Academic, research, clinical services and advocacy.
Over decades of its existence, the alumni have carved a niche in their chosen careers the world over, the clinical services have crossed geographical barriers throughout the country and the applied research has contributed to enrich lives of persons with communication disorders.
The Institute began with a single PG programme but now offers 17 academic programmes, including one certificate programme, three diploma, two undergraduate, four PG diploma and three Post-graduate programmes in addition to the three Ph.D and a Post-doctoral fellowship programme. The Institute has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the Area of Deafness by WHO, as a Centre for Advanced Research by UGC, as a Science and Technology Institute by DST, as a Centre of Excellence by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as a College with potential for Excellence by UGC and is accredited by NAAC with highest A grade.
AIISH has reached out to the Nation through a Diploma Programme via video-conferencing at RML Hospital, New Delhi, AIIPMR, Mumbai, JLMNC Ajmer, SCBMC Cuttack, CSMMU Lucknow, IGMC Shima, RIMS, Ranchi and JNMC, Bahagalpur.
Further, the Institute also provides mentoring to the three Institutes — RIMS, Imphal, JIPMER, Puducherry, NSBMC Jabalpur for BASLP programme with provisions for tele-rehabilitation and tele-diagnosis services at these centres. The Institute also has 4 outreach centres to extend its services to the masses —at Akkihebbalu, Hullahalli, Humballi and Sagar Taluk in Karnataka and New Born screening for communication disorders. Camps are conducted at each nook and corner of the country to reach the unreached by the institute.
