Smart India Hackathon 2022 in city from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Smart India Hackathon (SIH)-2022 grand finale jointly organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), All India Council for Technical Education, Persistent Systems and i4C (Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovations Centre) will be held at JSS Science and Technology University (JSS S&TU), Mysuru, from Aug. 25 to Aug. 27.

Disclosing this at a press meet held at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, JSS S&TU Registrar Dr. S.A. Dhanaraj said that the inauguration will be held tomorrow at Golden Jubilee Bhavan in the University Campus at 8 am. The programme will be centrally inaugurated by the Ministry of Education.

SIH is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve the pressing problems of the Government, Ministries, Departments, industries and other organisations and align their interest towards innovation and entrepreneurship. SIH inculcates the culture of product innovation and problem-solving among students. SIH is conducted every year since 2017 in two formats, namely SIH Software and SIH Hardware editions for higher education students.

As part of Azadi Ka Amit Mahotsav, the MIC and All India Council for Technical Education have identified 75 higher educational Institutions including seven from Karnataka as SIH nodal centres to host the programme. An officer designated by MIC will monitor the proceeding. Prime Minister Modi as every year is expected to interact with students tomorrow evening.

SIH hardware grand finale will be held centrally from Aug. 25 to 29 while the software grand finale from Aug. 25 to 26. 

More than 15,000 students will participate in this year’s SIH grand finale at national level. JSS S&TU was selected as one of the nodal centres to facilitate the SIH software edition.

Total 26 teams having 178 students are competing against 6 problems. Each problem statement has a winning amount of Rs. 1 lakh and under the student innovation category three prizes of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75, 000 and Rs. 50,000 will be provided.

JSS S&TU Principal and Dean Dr. S.B. Kivade, Professors Dr. M.P. Pushpalatha and S.D. Yashwanth were present at the press meet.
