Mysore/Mysuru: A man, who had befriended a woman, has robbed her of gold chain and mobile phone after bringing her to a lodge on the pretext of getting her a job.

The woman, who was cheated is a 40-year-old resident of Basavanagudi in Hebbal. One Santosh Ballari, who had befriended her on Facebook, informed her that he was coming to Mysuru on Dec. 1 to get her a job.

Learning that Santosh was arriving to city by train, the woman began to wait for him near City Railway Station during which she received a call from Santosh on Whatsapp, who instructed her to remove her gold mangalya chain and keep it in her purse and she followed his instruction.

After a few minutes, she received a message from mobile number 83107-73250 on her Whatsapp from Santosh, which stated that he was in a meeting and he would send his driver to pick her up.

He then collected information about the dress she was wearing so that the driver could                           identify her.

A few minutes later, a man approached her and told her that his name was also Santosh and informed her that his boss Santosh had asked him to bring her. He then took her to Room No. 404 of a lodge near Kalyan Jewellers.

When she entered the room, Santosh (her Facebook friend) messaged her and told her to have breakfast, get a soap and freshen up. Meanwhile, another Santosh, misbehaved with the woman and when she opposed it, he asked for forgiveness,  it is said.

But when the woman went to the bathroom to freshen up after keeping her purse with her 62 grams gold chain in it and her mobile phone on the table of the room, Santosh took away the purse and her mobile phone and went away.
