1,056 youth get jobs at two-day mega Job Mela

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s ambitious programme of creating jobs for the youth, saw about 1,056 youth getting jobs out of 4,398, at the two-day Kaushalya Mela (Vocational Skills Mela) and Job Mela organised jointly by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation and the District Administration, at Kalamandira here on July 15 and 16.

In all, 86 companies participated in the Job Mela.

On July 15, there were 3,815 aspirants in all out of whom 134 (96 men and 38 women) had failed SSLC. However, 710 (522 men and 188 women) people had passed SSLC. There were 472 (382 men and 90 women) who had passed PUC. When it came to  ITI, there were 206 men and 26 women and in Diploma – 231 (177 men and 54 women).

There were 269 (164 men and 105 women) BA candidates, 164 (86 men and 78 women) B.Sc, 271 (149 men and 122 women) B.Com, 168 (128 men and 40 women) BBM, 432 (293 men and 139 women) BE candidates. Also, there were 110 (89 men and 21 women) MA applicants, 150 (86 men and 64 women) M.Sc and 184 (75 men and 109 women) M.Com applicants. There were 53 (35 men and 18 women) with MCA, 130 (56 men and 74 women) with MBA, 53 (40 men and 13 women) with M.Tech and 52 (33 and 19 women) with BCA. Out of all this, 474 men and 367 women were selected on July 15.

On July 16, there were 19 SSLC failed, 92 SSLC passed, 58 PUC, 35 ITI, 50 Diploma, 36 BA, 36 B.SC, 40 B.Com, 39 BBM, 40 BE, 34 MA, 13 M.Sc, 17 M.Com, 15 MCA, 19 MBA, 10 M.Tech and 7 BCA candidates. Out of 583 people, 381 males and 202 females had participated. 132 males and 83 females have been selected in different companies. Students who have been selected are studying in various Departments in Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Mysuru districts.
