‘Gejjehejje Nrityagiri-25’ book released

Mysore/Mysuru: Writer Dr. Deepa Phadke’s edited work ‘Gejjehejje Nrityagiri-25’ was released by litterateur Diwakar Hegde at a programme organised as part of the Silver Jubilee celebration of Nrityagiri at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Diwakar Hegde said that the book has 18 essays on various topics of Music, Dance and Arts written by noted artistes.

Pointing out that the book introduces various art forms to the readers, he said that the book is both informative and educative on art forms. Noted Surgeon and Ganabharathi Patron Dr. C.G. Narasimhan, in his address, said everyone should have the conviction to achieve their set goals.

Stressing on the need for finding ways despite any odds for achieving set goals, he said that hard-earned achievements will earn public praise. Danseuse Dr. Kripa Phadke is a perfect example of this, he said while highlighting her contributions to Dance and related fields over the past 25 years through her Nrityagiri Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre.

Noting that Dr. Kripa has taught Dance to thousands of children in 25 years, Dr. Narasimhan said she made an enormous contribution for promotion of arts in Mysuru, which is rightfully called as the cultural capital of the State. He wished Nrityagiri all success in its future endeavours.

Writer Dr. Pradeep Kumar Hebri of Mandya rendered a self-composed poem on the book. Kannada and Culture Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan too spoke.

Later Nrityagiri students presented a Bharatanatyam performance, accompanied by Sameeksha Manukumar on natuvanga, Vikram Bharadwaj on mridanga, Pooja Sugam on vocal and Vidwan A.P. Krishnaprasad on flute.  Vidushi Madhusudhan, Dr. Kripa Phadke, Author Deepa Phadke and others were present.
