Mysore/Mysuru: Raag Milan has organised a morning concert by eminent vocalist Brajeshwar Mukherjee from Kolkata and a flute recital by Ravi Shankar Mishra on Jan. 29 (Sunday) at 10 am  at Kalpa Kshetra, 581/1, 1st phase, Vijayanagar 3rd here.

They will be accompanied on tabla by Tabla wizard Gourisankar (Texas, USA).

It is a rare opportunity for the music-lovers to listen to morning raagas as it is hard to come by these days.

Brajeshwar Mukherjee is a well-known Hindustani classical vocalist from Kolkata, a disciple of eminent vocalist, Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. He has found popularity with lovers of music from all around the world through his radio programmes, live performances and published albums.

Brajeshwar is a recipient of many awards and honours, currently serves as a junior guru at ITC Sangeeth Research Academy and at Shrutinandan.

Gourisankar, born in a family of musicians, has been studying the tabla since the age of 3, under the able guidance of his father Shiv Shankar Karmakar. Since 1979 he has been under the tutelage of Pandit Sanka Chatterjee. He is also an ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio. In 2008, he established the school of Indian Percussion and Music in Austin, Texas.

Sur Mani Ravi Shankar Mishra is one of the finest flautists of the young generation. He started his music lessons with his father Pandit Dinesh Chandra Mishra. In 1994 he was fortunate to be accepted as a disciple of flute maestro Pandit Nityanand Haldipur (Mumbai) who belongs to the lineage of legendary flautist Pandit Pannalal Ghosh. He has been fortunate to receive guidance from late Padma Bhushan Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan whom he revers as his mentor and guide. He is a regular performer for Yoga students and music lovers. He has collaborated with jazz musicians from USA and many leading musicians. Apart from being a versatile flautist, he is also a dedicated guru and a master craftsman of Indian bamboo flutes.
