Mysore/Mysuru: Fourteen achievers were conferred with Vishwamanava  Kuvempu awards at a function organised by Mysuru Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat at the District Kannada Sahitya Parishat auditorium at Vijayanagar 1st Stage in city recently.

The awards were presented by District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal and senior journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar.

Those who were presented with ‘Vishwamanava Kuvempu’ awards are: State Vokkaligara Sangha Working President C.G. Gangadhara, former President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, T. Narasipur Taluk President Kannada Puttaswamy, Hunsur Taluk President H.K. Mahadev, Mysuru City Unit President K.S. Shivaram, H.D. Kote’s Kannada Pramoda, Nanjangud’s Lata Muddumohan, Assistant Labour Commissioner Nazia Sultana, Corporator Shobha, Zilla Panchayat Development Officers Association President Rukmangada, Panchayat Development Officer Narahari, Pre-School Teacher Sadhana Ramprasad, Hagari Bommanahalli’s Sujnana Vidyapeeta Secretary Nagaraju Tambrahalli and Belagavi Journalist Channamallappa U. Menasinakayi.

Speaking after presenting the awards, Amshi Prasanna Kumar said that earlier many senior writers used to work as Editors in newspapers and many are still working in the print media. “In the print media, all newspapers are publishing supplements relating to Kannada literature at least once a week  thereby contributing to the cause of Kannada,” he added.

Later, Mysuru Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat President A.C. Manjunath and team assumed Office by receiving Kannada Flags from District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal.  Those who assumed the office are: H. Girish (Treasurer), Salundi S. Doreswamy (Vice-President), S. Doreswamy and N.K. Ganesh (Hon. Secretaries), N. Lohit (Legal Cell President), Haraduru Javaregowda (Organising Secretary), H. Susheela (Assistant Secretary), Ameena Kalekhan, Honnashetty, N.C. Umesh and Nagaraju (Hon. Advisors), J. Mahadeva (Media Advisor), H.N. Ramakrishna and Alanahalli Manu (Conveners), H.P. Lokesh, Basavaraju and Ravikumar (Joint Secretaries), Suvarna (Organisations’ representative), M. Ningaraju, Karigowda and Kullegowda (Directors).

Mysuru Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer H.D. Girish, District Government Employees Association Vice-President  M.V. Shivashankaramurthy and others were present.  Kannada Musical Nite programme was held on the occasion.
