Mysuru: The 24th week ‘Swachha Mysuru – Swastha Jeevana’ programme, which was launched by Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama for 40 weeks to bring public awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection, was held on Sunday in Tilaknagar covering Umar Khayyam Road, Shivajinagar, Badamakan and New Badamakan, Jail Quarters and Pourakarmikara Colony.

Swami Atmajnanandaji, Adhyaksha, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru and T. Ramu, local Corporator, inaugurated the campaign. Campaign was symbolically started by removing parthenium plants.

Volunteers visited houses and requested residents not to throw waste in public places and avoid using plastic bags.

They were also requested to take care of their surrounding public places as they take care of their houses. Students conducted awareness rally in different streets of the locality through slogans.

A total of 230 people, including 200 committed volunteers, 30 local residents, participated in the campaign.

Brochure on ‘Swachha Mysuru – Swastha Jeevana’ was distributed to houses in the locality.
