World Immunization Week is observed every year on the last week of April month (Apr. 24 to 30). It aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against diseases. Immunisation saves millions of lives every year. The theme for this year is ‘Long Life for All.’ When it comes to equality in getting vaccinated, women are left behind. Women who fail to be vaccinated, especially pregnant women will suffer from various diseases which will in turn affect infants’ health in the womb. Also during pregnancy, women’s immunity will be low.
During the World Immunisation Week, children will be administered with vaccines for 12 dangerous diseases. Parents must make sure that their children are vaccinated in time, according to a press release from the District Health and Family Welfare Officer.
