Health is at our kitchen, not hospitals: Dr. Khader Vali Dudekula

May 13, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Food and nutrition expert Padma Shri Dr. Khader Vali Dudekula has said: ‘Health is not at hospitals, but in our kitchen.’ Khader addressed the students of Pharmacy and Life Sciences, during a camp organised at Suttur Srikshetra in Nanjangud taluk in the district, from May 3 to 5.

Speaking on the topic ‘Lifestyle and Health’, Dr. Khader said: “There is no need to take medicine if our food is good. By consuming desi food, we can keep good health. Due to over processing of food, even the food is turning poisonous. None of the medicines can fully cure the disease, as in the name of Science and Technology, we have been consuming more medicines. Hence, we can safeguard our soft organs by consuming millets. But the water intensive food is not good for health.”

Violin exponent Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath, who delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Indian Classical Music,’ said: “Music is a medium to experience the feelings, which doesn’t require the knowledge of raga, tala and shastras. The environment is filled with music, as one can sense music even in the chirping of birds and lullaby of mother. Music is also not bound by any language.”

Later, Dr. Manjunath performed in brindavana saranga raga, followed by bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghava Rajaram.’

A total of 130 students from Pharmacy and Life Sciences Colleges from Ooty and Mysuru attended the camp.

The participants of the camp attended mass prayers in the morning, followed by Yogasana and Meditation.
