Ambitious velodrome project in Mysuru a non-starter so far

September 21, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The much-anticipated velodrome project in Mysuru, with an allocated budget of Rs. 10 crore as announced by CM Siddharamaiah in the State Budget 2023-24, remains a non-starter.

A velodrome is a specialised arena designed for track cycling, characterised by its steeply banked oval track layout, comprising two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straight sections.

The establishment of a velodrome in Mysuru holds great potential, as it could significantly boost the aspirations of cyclists from the city and its surrounding areas who aim to participate in international competitions.

However, the proposal has yet to see substantial progress.

Sources indicate that the construction of a velodrome would require 10 to 15 acres of land.
