Govt. must hike honorarium of Scouts and Guides teachers

September 24, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Bharat Scouts and Guides State Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia said that the Government should hike the honorarium being paid to Scouts and Guides teachers serving in Government Schools across Karnataka.

He was speaking at the one-day information workshop organised for officials of School Education and Literacy at Jayachamarajendra Scouts and Guides Centre behind the Old DC Office along Hunsur road here on Thursday.

Noting that trained Scouts and Guides teachers serving in Government Schools are being paid a monthly honorarium of Rs.250, Sindhia, who is also a former Minister, wanted the Government to hike this honorarium.

Pointing out that there are 6 lakh Scouts and Guides students and over 40,000 teachers in the State, he said that a memorandum has been submitted to the Government seeking a hike in honorarium. Stressing on the need for establishing Scouts and Guides wing in all Schools and Colleges, Sindhia opined that this will help in the making of Karnataka as a welfare State. A Zonal-level meeting of Block Resource Persons (BRPs) of the Department of Public Instruction is being held shortly, he added. Scouts and Guides State Vice-President Geetha Nataraj, office-bearers B.K. Basavaraj, Gurumurthy, District Chief Commissioner P. Vishwanath, Commissioner Kaveramma, Nagesh Shivapura, Shivakumar and others were present.
