Mysore/Mysuru: B.S. Sridhar Raje Urs, President of Karnataka Ursu Mahamandali Trust, has bemoaned over State Government neglecting former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs, who was instrumental in renaming the State as Karnataka, during the 50-year celebrations of the monumental occasion as ‘Karnataka Sambhrama.’
Upon the completion of 50 years of rechristening the State as Karnataka, it is a welcome move on the part of Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi giving a call to all the Deputy Commissioners of the districts to make preparations for celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava in a novel way throughout the year under the slogan ‘Hesarayitu Karnataka, Usiragali Kannada.’ However, it is disappointing that the name of Devaraj Urs is not mentioned anywhere. The State Government should rectify the error and pay floral tributes to the portrait of Urs while hoisting Kannada flag. The repeat telecast of the speech made by Urs while tabling the Bill on renaming of the State in Vidhana Soudha should also be arranged, Sridhar Raje Urs urged Minister Tangadagi.
