Talented Tennis Player: Mustafa Raja

Mysuru has been producing talented tennis players from time to time who have gone on to represent the country in various events. One such player who has made his mark in the State and National level is Mysuru’s upcoming tennis player Mustafa Raja. He has been performing consistently in the National level U-12 and U-10 Tournaments and is among the top sub-junior level tennis players in the country. Presently, taking part in the Nakshatra Upscale ANT Academy’s U-10 AITA Tennis Tournament in Bengaluru, Mustafa has won his first two round matches and has progressed to the quarter-finals. Mustafa has recently won the U-12 Doubles title in the AITA OIC Super Series Tennis Tournament held at Guwahati, Assam. He is our ‘Star This Week.’

Mustafa Raja, a fifth standard student at Excel Public School, Mysuru, is the son of Mutruza Raja and Farida Raja.

Mustafa trains at the R. Nagaraj’s Tennis Centre and is coached by R. Nagaraj. Taking part in the ongoing Nakshatra Upscale AITA U-10 Tennis Tournament at Bengaluru, on Saturday, Mustafa won his first round against Aabharan Jinka 6-0 and beat Koushiuk Arun Kumar 6-0 in the second round to progress further in the Tournament.

In the recent OIC, AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament held at Guwahati in July-2017, Mustafa won the U-12 Doubles title. Taking part in the AITA Talent Series U-14 Tennis Tourney in Trivandrum in May 2017, Mustafa won the U-14 boys Doubles title.

He also won the U-12 boys Singles title in the AITA Talent Series U-12 Tennis Tournament for the Manasa Sarovar Pushkarni Cup-2017 held at Mysuru in April 2017.

Mustafa has a fluent game with some excellent ground strokes both on his forehand and back hand. He is a keen learner of the game and intends to work hard in the days to come and climb up the ladder in the State and National level in the Sub-Junior and Junior sections.
