Mysore/Mysuru: Farmer leader N. Nanjegowda (70), who was involved in farmer movements in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts for over four decades, passed away at Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru early on Sunday morning following brief illness.
He leaves behind his wife Kamalakshi, two sons — Dr. N. Sathish Gowda, a Professor of Law at Bangalore University and Dr. N. Anand Gowda, an Assistant Professor of Mysuru-based KSOU — and a host of relatives and friends.
A native of T. Hosur in Yelandur taluk of Chamarajanagar district, he had taken part in many farmer movements along with KRRS Founder Prof. M.D. Nanjundaswamy, Puttannaiah and other top farmer leaders.
His body was kept for public view at his son Dr. Sathish Gowda’s residence at Vishweswaraiah Layout in Kengeri of Bengaluru and later at his another son Dr. Anand Gowda’s residence in Vijayanagar Third Stage in Mysuru on Sunday.
Last rites were performed at Singaramaranahalli in Hunsur taluk late on Sunday evening, according to family sources.
