Elderly man killed while watching youths fight

Mysore/Mysuru: An elderly man, who was watching two youths fighting, was killed when a cricket bat swung by one of the youths hit the elderly man on his head. The incident took place on Dec. 28 near Sewage Farm and the severely  injured man, who was admitted to a hospital, succumbed to injuries on Dec. 30.

The deceased elderly man is Lingaraju (65), a resident of Kanakagiri in city.

On Dec. 28, two youths, identified as Kanakagiri residents Akash and Venkatesh, were reportedly fighting over some issue near Sewage Farm Circle and when the fight escalated, Venkatesh, who went to his house, returned with a cricket bat and swung the bat at Akash who dodged it and the bat hit Lingaraju, who was watching the fight, resulting in Lingaraju collapsing on the ground due to severe bleeding. Though he was rushed to a hospital, Lingaraju succumbed to injuries the next day.

Vidyaranyapuram Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have arrested Venkatesh and are investigating.
