In an effort to enhance value (value addition) of agricultural produce and agri marketing, the Agriculture Department has invited applications from farmers to establish agri start-ups (start-ups at incubation stage). The interested farmers can apply through the Agriculture Department’s k-kisan web page. The scheme involves 50 percent subsidy (minimum of Rs. 5 lakh and maximum of Rs. 50 lakh) to new start-ups and 50 percent subsidy (minimum of Rs. 20 lakh and maximum of Rs. 50 lakh) for expansion or upgradation of already established start- ups. The agri start-ups must have been registered under Private Limited Companies Act – 2013 or a Partnership Firm (registered under Section 59 of the Partnership Act – 1932) or a Limited Liability Partnership (under the limited liability Partnership Act – 2008) and the annual transaction earnings must not exceed Rs. 5 crore from the date of registration, according to a press release.
