Release of Cauvery water: Agitation completes 87 days in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The Cauvery agitation launched by the city’s Cauvery Kriya Samiti in front of Town Hall in the heart of the city, in protest against release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, has completed 87 days.

Addressing the protestors on Thursday, Samiti President Jayaprakash (JP) alleged that the Tamil Nadu Government is intentionally placing hurdles for the execution of Mekedatu drinking water project across river Cauvery along Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. Urging the State Government to go ahead with the project, he appealed the Union Government to give its nod for the project and to clear all hurdles in the execution of the project, which is aimed at providing drinking water to crores of people.

Samiti Hon. Secretary Mellahalli Mahadevaswamy, leaders Chetan Ramesh, Varakodu Krishnegowda, Tejesh Lokesh Gowda, Shivalingaiah, Rajashekar, Raveesh, Ramesh and others were present.
