Mysore/Mysuru: Sahaja Samrudha in association with Nexus Centre City, has organised a Roots and Tuber Festival at Nexus Centre City, Nazarbad, Mysuru, from Mar. 1 to 3 between 11 am and 10 pm.
The Festival serves as a platform to celebrate our agricultural heritage, promote food diversity and foster community resilience in the face of global challenges.
Renowned food specialists, passionate food vendors and innovative entrepreneurs will showcase their creativity and culinary skills through an impressive range of tuber-inspired dishes. Writer and food enthusiast Rathna Rajaiah will showcase special recipes made out of roots and tubers.
The festival introduces purple yam, aerial potatoes, mango ginger, black and green turmeric, greater yam, arrow root, elephant yam, desi carrot and taro from different parts of Karnataka, which are exclusive for their taste, colour and nutritional value. More than 10 groups are bringing different kinds of tuber value-added products, millets, pulses, organic seeds, desi rice, cold press oil and organic produce for sale.
Forgotten foods’ display is being organised to sensitise the urban community towards the benefits of neglected and underutilised crops and explore more value addition and include them into daily diet.
