 ‘Abhijaatha Sthree’ Awardees

March 25, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru:  Noted danseuse of the city Dr. Kripa Phadke, who has recently been appointed as the President of Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, said that men and women are like the two sides of the same coin in the society.

She was speaking after inaugurating the award presentation ceremony organised jointly by Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Uttishta Bharat Pratishtana, as part of International Women’s Day celebrations at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Vijayanagar here on Friday.

Stating that every woman born in this earth is good, Dr. Phadke said that women have often shown that they can achieve anything provided they are given an opportunity. However, women should distinguish between freedom and a chaste life, as doing so will help in leading a smooth and purposeful life.

Recalling the famous saying that ‘behind success of every man, there is a woman’, she highlighted that both men and women should not be arrogant on life matters and issues. She lauded the organisers for recognising and honouring achiever women from different fields.

Senior writer Dr. Leela Prakash said that women have patience, concern and affection for leading and binding a family. Women have often shown that they can excel in multiple fields at a time.

Samarpana Shikshana Samsthe Secretary Sudha Phanish too delivered a talk. Writers Dr. A. Pushpa Iyengar and Dr. K. Leela Prakash, entrepreneur Vinutha S. Giri and medical professionals Dr. Poornima and Dr. Bhavana R. Madhusudhan were conferred with ‘Abhijaatha Sthree’ Awards.

Also, Utthishta Bharat Pratishtana Secretary and city-based cartoonist M.V. Nagendra Babu’s ‘Sthree Shakti’ poster was released on the occasion. Vidushi M.K. Shobha gave a Bharatanatyam presentation.
