Nanjangud: A man, who barged into a house, threatened the lone woman in the house with a knife and sexually assaulted her. The incident, which has come to light lately, took place at Devirammanahalli village in the taluk.

The accused has been identified as Nagaraju of Kalale village.

The woman and her husband from Uttar Pradesh, had taken a house on rent at Devirammanahalli and the husband was involved in pani puri business and accused Nagaraju sells tender coconuts near the pani puri shop.

On Apr. 5, when the woman was alone in the house, Nagaraju, who reportedly barged inside the house, threatened the woman with a knife and allegedly assaulted her sexually besides threatening to kill her if she discloses the incident with anyone.

The woman later informed the incident to her husband and a complaint was lodged at Nanjangud Rural Police Station.

The Police, who have registered a case, conducted an investigation, arrested accused Nagaraju and handed him over to judicial custody.
