Hundreds of BJP workers, who were on a march to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s house at Ramakrishnanagar here seeking his resignation following the explosive revelations in the diary notings of MLC K. Govindaraju, were prevented by the Police at Mysuru Diganta Circle in T.K. Layout this morning.
The BJP workers, who gathered at Kavitha Bakery junction on New Kantharaj Urs Road and took out a march carrying placards and raising slogans against the CM in singular, were stopped by a large number of Police personnel including Chamundi Commando Force.
Police had made elaborate security arrangements around the CM’s residence by erecting barricades on all roads leading to the CM’s house. The erection of barricades around the CM’s residence caused a lot of inconvenience to motorists.
The slogan-shouting BJP workers, who alleged that the contents of the diary revealed payments in crores made by some State Congress leaders to the Party High Command, urged Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to step down.
They also demanded that the tainted Ministers, whose names have found mention in the diary, must be immediately sacked.
Even as the BJP workers marched towards the CM’s house, the Police took them into custody and shifted them in Police vans to the CAR ground, from where they will be released later in the afternoon.
City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath, former Minister S.A. Ramdas, former MLC G. Madhusudan, District BJP President M. Shivanna, Corporator Nandeesh Preetham and other leaders took part in the protest.
The BJP workers had also protested in front of PWD and District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa’s residence in Vijayanagar here yesterday, seeking his resignation as his name allegedly finds a mention in the notings of the diary belonging to Congress MLC.
