Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised the following Bharatanatyam recitals at Veene Seshanna Bhavana on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar here on May 17.

6 pm: Students of  Vidu. Prasannalakshmi; 7.15 pm: Students of Vidu. Dr. Malini Ravishankar.

Vidushi Prasannalakahmi  teaches hundreds of students from last 25 years at her dance school ‘Sri Nrutya Niketana,’ Mysuru. Her great job is to train deaf and dumb students and she has trained many poor students free of cost.

She started learning Kuchipudi at the age of 6 in Kadapa and Tirupati from Guru Vid. Krishnamurthy and Bharatanatyam from Guru Vidu. Sandhya Murthy. She has performed at many prestigious platforms in India and abroad. She has been recognised by many associations and Tamil Nadu Govt. has honoured her with Gold Medal and ‘Natya Selvi’ award.

Vidu. Dr. Malini Ravishankar, Founder-Director of Lasya Vardhana School of Performing Arts, Bengaluru, started her Bharatantayam training under Guru Vid. Kamath. Her interest in this art persuaded her to take up a graduation in this subject itself.

She has received recognition in India as well as abroad for her performances. She has received Ph.D in Kannada Literature for her research on ‘Haridaasa Sahithyada Kavyaswaroopa’ from Bangalore University.

She was awarded Junior Fellowship for her work in the field of Dance & Literature by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India (1992-2001). Along with a gold medal in BA (Bharatanatyam), Distinction in Vidwat Grade Exam, Malini is a highly accredited artiste with Doordarshan.
