‘Dharma Ratnakara’ Award presentation to Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Mysuru, will be conferring ‘Dharma Ratnakara’ Award on city’s noted  industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy at a programme organised at its Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam tomorrow (May 31) at 6 pm.

Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji will do the honours. Krishna Gana Sabha President B.S. Sridhar Raje Urs will preside.

Also, Sugama Sangeetha by Nisarga and Vismaya has been organised as part of the Puduvattu programme instituted by Dr. Shenoy in memory of his parents Dr. Shenoy M. Govinda Rao and D. Ramabai.

The duo will be accompanied by Ganesh Bhat on keyboard, Atmaram on tabla and Vinay Rangadhol on rhythm pad.

Profile: Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, Managing Trustee of Mangalore Ganesh Beedi Works, is also the Chairman for GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women.

A soft spoken and kind person, he is responsible for the development of Mysuru, culturally and educationally, by donating large sums of money to cultural organisations and educational institutions. Recognising his services, many organisations have honoured him with awards like ‘Valuable Citizen of Mysore’ (Mysore Literary Festival, 2018); ‘Manava Ratna’ award by Rotary West; Doctorate degree by Ceylon Open University.

He is the chief patron of ‘Geeth Gaatha Chal’ musical event by doctors; 8th Cross Ganesha Music Festival; ‘Raga Vaibhava’ monthly music at Vasudevacharya Bhavan, Mysuru.

Dr. Shenoy has helped innumerable institutions financially such as: Nrupathunga Kannada School, Ramakrsihnanagar, to build Smt. Ramabai Ranga Mandira for the promotion of cultural programmes; Ganabharathi to build Smt. Ramabai Cultural Centre; Rotary West Mother and Deaf Child Institute to build a commercial complex. Also, helped Rotary West Association to build a practical hall for its institution at Datagalli; Renovations of Bidaram Krishnappa Mandira; Building ‘Rajagopura’ for Venugopalaswamy Temple, Tyagaraja Road.
