Accused youths surrender before Mysuru South Police

Mysore/Mysuru: A youth was allegedly murdered over petty issue and the killers had thrown the body into Varuna Canal at Mavinahalli village in Jayapura hobli here on Tuesday night. Old enmity is said to be the cause for the murder.

The deceased youth is Raghavendra (33), son of late Boraiah and a resident of Mavinahalli village. Two youths of the same village had allegedly murdered Raghavendra in drunken stupor and threw the body to Varuna Canal passing from J.P. Nagar to Dadadahalli village.

Raghavendra, who was staying with his mother Puttamma, was working as a labourer and about 4 months back, he had fought with the two youths over consuming liquor. The issue had reached the Police Station which ended in a compromise.

On May 28 night, when Raghavendra was at home, the two youths took him out and murdered him besides throwing the body to Varuna Canal.

The two youths, fearing Police action, came to Mysuru South Police Station and surrendered themselves Wednesday afternoon. Based on the information provided by the two accused, the Police took them to the canal where the Cops found the body of Raghavendra.

The Police then summoned the relatives of Raghavendra to the spot, where they identified the body as that of Raghavendra, following which the Police conducted mahazar, fished out the body from the canal and shifted it to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.

Mysuru South Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
