Mysore/Mysuru: Nadabrahama Founder-Member & Musician ‘Gana Kala Bhushana’ M.A. Narasimhachar Birth Centenary Celebration, sponsored by M.A. Narasimhachar Music Foundation, is being organised at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road in city on  June 16 at 6 pm.

Vid. Pattabhirama Pandit will give a vocal concert on this special occasion. Vidu. Charulatha Ramanujam on violin, Vid. Patri Satish Kumar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata will be the accompanists.

Vid. M.A. Narasimhachar: Born to a traditional family in 1924, Vid. M.A. Narasimhachar was a very pious & devout musician. He faced many turbulences in life without getting frustrated. He never sought success, name, fame and was content with what he got as God’s Gift. He was introduced to music by his mother Rajamma though not formally. His daughters Meera and Mythily also are good musicians & are associated with Gana Kala Mandira which he founded in Mysuru and then shifted to Bengaluru.

In 1936, Narasimhachar went to Annamalai University in Chidambaram for a formal training in Music. He completed the course in 1940 and got the title ‘Sangeetha Bhushana.’ Later he again went back to the college to do a one year course in Veena under K.S. Narayanaswamy. He also did a one year course in Western Music at Trinity College of Music, London.

After return, he started Musical School Gana Kala Mandira in 1945. Then never regretted the decision. Many creative productions were done through the Gana Kala Mandira. In 1972, he got an offer as a Lecturer in Music and he shifted to Bengaluru. Celebrated Golden Jubilee of Sabha in 1997. He got Gana Kala Bhushana in1987, Rajyotsava Award in 1992, Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan in 1999 and awarded Sangeetha Nataka Academy Puraskar in 2003 before he ended his journey in 2004.

Nadabrahma is indebted to Narasimhachar for his efforts to pursue like-minded persons to start Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha in 1956.
