Sir,
I am writing to bring to your urgent attention a harrowing incident that occurred on June 14, 2024, at approximately 8 pm.
While traversing Siddalingeshwara Layout 1st Stage, 31st Main Road, near DG Kennel, my elderly mother and I were attacked by an aggressive street dog. To our horror, we were subsequently chased by a pet dog that was not properly restrained.
Given the dangerous nature of the situation, we attempted to accelerate on our two-wheeler to avoid being bitten by the dog.
In the process, our vehicle hit a speed bump, causing my elderly mother to fall onto the road. She sustained severe injuries to her hips, ankle, head and spine.
The nearby locals rushed to assist us and we immediately transported her to GC Sports Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
This traumatic experience has left us deeply shaken and outraged. The lack of action to manage the street dog menace and ensure that pet owners comply with safety regulations is appalling.
The negligence exhibited by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities is unacceptable and it puts the lives of the residents at constant risk.
Repetitive calls to the animal control number provided by MCC have gone unanswered, further highlighting the failure of the system to protect its citizens.
I demand immediate and stringent action to address this grave issue. Specifically, I urge the MCC Commissioner, the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner and our newly elected MP to intervene without delay.
I expect a prompt and decisive response to this letter, including a detailed action plan to eradicate this public safety threat. The residents of this area deserve to feel secure in their community.
