Nanjangud: Students and the general public travelling from Hullahalli to Nanjangud are facing significant challenges due to insufficient bus services. Hullahalli, one of the largest hoblis with a thriving business and commercial sector, has seen growing demand to be designated as a taluk headquarters.

Residents have expressed their frustration with the KSRTC for not providing enough buses for students and commuters heading to Nanjangud for school, college and work. They are often forced to wait for long hours at the bus stand.

Previously, buses were available as early as 5 am, but now they are not even accessible by 6.30 am. Buses that used to arrive every 15 minutes are now rarely seen, sometimes not appearing for over an hour.

The lack of public transport has allowed private transport operators to exploit the situation. Despite regulations requiring private vehicles to be parked 100 metres from the bus stand, these vehicles are often parked inside the bus stand, raising suspicions that KSRTC officials might be colluding with private transporters.

Speaking to the Star of Mysore, Girish and Devaraj, residents of Hullahalli and Kappasoge villages, expressed their dissatisfaction with the authorities for failing to provide adequate bus services to Nanjangud.

“The delay in bus arrivals is causing us to be late for work. Students are also struggling to reach their schools and colleges on time. When we raise these concerns, the Depot Manager offers us weak excuses,” they said.

However, Depot Manager Thyagaraj denied allegations of insufficient bus services, claiming that buses to Nanjangud run every half-an-hour.

He assured that if there were issues, they would be addressed by deploying more buses.
