Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. R.S. Umakanth, Associate Professor, Department of Sericulture Science, University of Mysore (UoM), Manasagangothri, Mysuru, has received the prestigious ‘Xi Ling-shi Distinguished International Education Excellence Award 2024 in Genetics & Breeding of Silkworm’ for his commendable contributions to research and teaching in the field of ‘Biochemical Genetics and Breeding of Silkworm’ at the International Symposium on Public Service through Education & International Research & Academic Excellence Awards 2024 held on June 22 by International Multidisciplinary Research Foundation (IMRF), a prestigious Institute of Higher Education and Research, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on the occasion of UN Public Services Day 2024.

The award carries a Memento and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Presently Dr. Umakanth is serving as the Director of Information and Communication Division (ICD), Co-ordinator of e-Procurement Cell and Nodal Officer in the Examination Branch, UoM, Mysuru, in addition to teaching assignment, according to a press release.
