Sir,
I have been involved with the preservation and conservation of the ecology and environment of Kukkarahalli Lake, which is a heritage precinct (and also other Lakes in Mysuru), since about 2001, interacting with successive Deputy Commissioners (DCs), who are ex-Officio Chairman of the Lake Authority.
However, of late, for the past 3-4 years, I have not been able to take active role in the matter, due mainly to failing health.
Recently, I have come to know that the plan to restore and rehabilitate Kukkarahalli Lake was prepared by the agency named INTACH.
Although I have not been a member of INTACH or formally connected with INTACH in any manner, I have been aware of INTACH’s country-wide good work and established competence in heritage and environmental conservation, from the days when (late) Krishna Vattam (senior journalist) was heading the Mysore Branch of INTACH.
I am sure that INTACH’s recent restoration and rehabilitation plan for Kukkarahalli Lake was based upon INTACH expert members’ detailed visits on the ground and will be viable for implementation.
I hope that in the interest of saving the precious heritage precinct of Kukkarahalli Lake for Mysuru and its inhabitants, the INTACH plan will be quickly implemented, overcoming all official and unofficial hurdles.
